“One man’s journey … a life lesson for all.”

Khaliyq Nazaire was born on February 28, 1980 in Queens, NY to Darlene Nazaire and Keith Jones. As a child, he was happy-go-lucky and had a joke for every occasion. He was dedicated and strived always to improve himself, and excel. Khaliyq wanted to better his life and the lives of those around him.

Khaliyq graduated from Morehouse College with A Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and went on to a Masters in Tax Accounting from St. John’s University. His goal was to be a Tax Lawyer, and he went on to pass the two of the four sections required to become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). His future plan was to go to Dartmouth to obtain an MBA.

Khaliyq loved travel and luxury. His travels included Amsterdam, Brazil, Croatia, England, Italy, and Mexico. He always went for the top of the line! He found a way to make it happen through focused dedication and determination, which were his middle names.

On Super Bowl Sunday 2008, where we saw a display of raw talent and brilliance, Khaliyq could only see his fumbles and incompletes. Khaliyq had made it to a prized place of accomplishment, destined for victory despite all odds. Yet, he didn’t see the giant others saw because his reflection was clouded by undiagnosed depression and mild paranoia. He saw a future of heartache and chose to free himself. This book is written so that individuals and their families may see the signs, and choose a different path.
